What I have noticed is that I have very low blower flow at the defrost selection as a lot of the flow is coming out right under the center of the console. What I did to improve this was block of the hole down there. What I beleive thogh there is supposed to be some sort of duct that came down and allow the flow towards either floor when on heater. My solution fixed defrost mode but really messes up heater at the flooe. It seems that the big hole was the less resistance so that is where the air went.

Does anyone have one of those ducts that is supposed to be attached there laying around...

thanks

yea I replaced that and it imporved, when I taped off the hole it was much better but I loose the floor heat. Just looking for the duct piece to route heat to the floor.

no I have that piece, I was thinking there is supposed to be a piece right under the ash tray that comes down to the hump in the floor and splits with an out put to the righ and a out put to the left to direct the air to the floor mat area....

Wish you woulda posted this yesterday had one in the Blazer :(
I think you have:
A. a broken nylon link on the defroster door
B. a bad vacuum motor on the mode door.
Is it air conditioned?
If it's the nylon link, someone on the boards a few weeks ago had found a source for them.
If you're missing that piece, you can look up through the hole and see the door that changes air flow from floor or defrost. While looking up there with a light, move the selector back and forth from floor to defrost, see if it works, opens and closes all the way, is bent or whatever. If it doesn't move make sure the vacuum line is on the diaphram right there, if it is, make sure it's plugged into the climate control, if need be trace it all the way back to the plug thingy on the intake manifold behind the carburetor.
