I just bought a 86 k5 blazer. The switch I had in the truck would turn the dash and running lights on but when pulled all the way out for headlights the dash and running lights would go out and headlights would turn on. I put a new switch in and now the running lights and dash don't come on at all and the headlights still work. The brake lights, reverse lights, turn signals, headlights, headlight light in dash and hazards work. The running lights front and back, dash lights, interior lights, and license plate lights do not work. I have checked all the fuses and they are good. The grounds in the brake lights are good. Is there a ground for the dash and running lights? I took the trailer harness off cause I have heard that could mess with lights but it did not change anything.

Check your main light switch plug for bad contacts. Your feed for running lights is bad. Brown wire at your light switch is the feed. If you put a hot wire to that brown wire your running lights should go on. The red feeds the switch, the white goes to courtesy lights, and the green feed the dash lights. Make sure your new switch isn't turned all the way off on dim so your dash lights don't come on. Try turning it until it stops to turn on the courtesy lights.

Just some ideas.
