can’t say I’ve ever seen one in K5 before. What’s the advantage of that over a np205?
Yupp jeep case, honestly for me it came down to the fact the i was able to get the complete setup for less than the price of a kit to put 203/205 together. Its not as strong as the 205 but has the option for 32 spine out puts as well as 4:1 low gears (also a strength upgrade). gearing is better 2.62:1 vs 1.92:1. Its also a smaller package as well as a little lighter i think..
Better ratio. Everything is better than a 205
@CASEY7 what is that rig powered with? Are ya gonna split the 300 into little pieces?
For now I've just got a mild 350. So far the D300 has been great I've done a few burnouts with the 203 in low and the 300 in high and it hasn't blown up yet. I'm looking at getting a beefier cover though that's typically where they like to crack when they split in half.
Nice pics I'm interested in your bumper build(s)
Also how did you get your tail lights so bright
You convert the bulbs to another style or straight led swap.
Also were you source the serpentine set up
The tail lights are just standard dual filament bulbs in new housing.
I cant take full credit for the front bumper I've only modified it because it used to sit out a foot further and wrap fully around the front end, I've pulled it off a few times to slowly get it tucked further in, I've always bashed it into every thing. as far as its build i believe its 1/4" or 3/8" C-channel that was cut and bent to fit around the front with smaller C-channel welding on the inside that actually slide into the frame rail.
The rear bumper i built out of a simple piece of 1/4" angle iron with angle welded to the back that fits around the chopped frame rail.
The serpentine set up, the brackets are take off from the local junk yard for about $20 a side. The accessories (alt, steering pump, water pump, A/C delete pulley) were all from either a '95 or '96 C/K truck. The alternator took some rewiring to get it to work on the older truck using a conversion harness and adding in a resistor to get it to actually charge (found that out the hard way)
I appreciate all the replies guys sorry it took me a while to get back on here, a cranky kid makes it tough to get a chance to sit down.
This was actually the first vehicle i ever bought with the intentions of building into a fun toy. A lot of stuff I've just had to learn as I went and try to figure it out, so some of the decisions I've made may not make any sense!
