Besides the 2.8L being gutless. My truck revs high seems like I.m shifting to much and to early. Wants me to shift into second going 10, 3rd going 15-30. Then I have to shift into 4th from 30 to 40, then 5th around 40. Is this normal, shouldn't have to shift Down into 3rd to go through a school zone. Nuts

Manual tranny with a shift light?
Take a screwdriver and bust the bulb for the shift light, drive by ear. I had an 88 C1500 shortbox with a 350 and 5 speed, with a shift light. It'd be lugging along in 4th at 35 mph, you'd let up slightly on the gas pedal and the shift light would come on. 5th, at 35 mph...really? I learned to ignore it.

Yeah it has the light, but thats not why i'm shifting. I mean the truck itself revs Like crazy if I don't shift like stated above. Could this be tranny problem or just the way it is "gutless"? Does anyone else have an 80's s10 with a 2.8L and a manual trans? Its like I'm driving with 5.38 gears, but the gears aren't my problem.
