Anyone else done a stock OEM serpentine conversion from 88/89 to a earlier model (85/86). I've got the mechanicals done including a new line from fuel pump to carb, but am curious what was done about rerouting the A/C, alternator and other affected wiring.

Thanks in advance.

The alternator and a/c swap sides when you do the switch. Alternator is easy as you can reroute the wire down the other side of the intake. There is enough wire to reach. The a/c is another story though. You'll need to have new lines made up. If you use the early serp setup you'll still have a similar R4 compressor so you can at least use the manifold where it bolts to the compressor as a starting point. If you go with a later (vortec 96-99) the compressor is different so you'll need to rob the lines out of a similar year truck of your serp setup to snag the manifold for the lines off of the compressor.

you can get a factory AC delete pulley for the Vortec that bolts into where the compressor mounts.. if you decide you don't want to mess with all the AC..heres a shot of mine

'92 V6 TBI to 400sbc accessories is what I've got, but you'll need to figure out the AC lines and maybe new water neck/upper hose. This is what I had to do but I'm running an AC delete pulley like above. ^^^

Almost forgot a biggie. All serp drive systems run the water pump in the oppsite direction of a v-belt system. So a reverse rotation water pump, fan clutch and fan to all match.

Just get a set of stock A/C lines for the same year you're getting the brackets from. That's all I did and everything bolted up. The other components in the system didn't change over those years, other than the compressor pulley.
