then it burned down from a fuel related fire..so I stripped it, rewired it, and got some more metal, also so longer a 4 speed, and sadly no more 3/4 axels with lockers any more :(

but the grinder came out and off went the roof..the fenders got tastefully hacked, added a cage, a mild boat side an automatic, some lift and some boggers to fill it out some..

now getting back together and will be a build similar to my original 75 k5

been killing myself, so not much progress on the 86 project, but I did shoot the dash, and the cage got dropped off from the powdercoating shop..sweeet:bow: I had it matched to the argent grey/silver that I did the grill pieces in, the tube doors and tube tailgate will match as well, not shown in the two rear bars and the support piece behind the driver,

thats all for now, ill post pics after its painted, but their wont be any bling for a while as im now poor:haha:

finaly got some time to go down and get some work done on the 86:D

hammered out a couple low spots and finished the remainder of the body work, then finally got it primmed, also changed my mind on the color..which iis a p.i.t.a. since red paint aint cheep and I already bought every thing:( still need to redo the dash again now and do body work on the cowl hood as well.

current idea is to not do a base/clear as intended before, I am not to thrilled about a metalic color anyways, let alone a dark red. I have now decided to do a single stage, in a grabber green or hugger orange like the old mopars.

maybe if I get it blocked out this week I can shoot it if I have the time next weekend :)

after paint, just do the spray in bedliner in the interior, have the tube doors and bumpers powdercoated, get the exaust done with a cat so i can get it legal again.. and start cruisin:laugh:

started on the tube doors some more

aside from adding some 1 inch tube in the center, they will be powder coated to match the cage, and use the factory hinges, latches should be here soon from grainger:rolleyes:

I had them follow the door opening better before, but I decieded it just looked weird, kind of like a huge horse shoe, or like I was trying to hard to make it look like a door..so I changed the lines,

thoughts?

thinking the 1 inch should be / / maybe \ /

:pimp1:

I am thinking about going with the old mopar green, kind of tired of painting my blazers the same color every time..

the latches hold against 650 pulling pounds of pressure!

finally figured out the latch..I needed a 1 inch rise from the side of the tube so it could crap the inner panel of my blazer, I was thinking of a spacer but would up couping a piece of tube, plugging the end and welding it up, much cleaner. then I will just use self tappers to mount the latch after it is powdercoated..

ahhhhhh the smell of progress..alsong with last nights mexican food:o

Shawn, your latch then are only as strong as the screws you use... Why not modify your mount and use a bolt instead

ahhhhh

good point:D

well... how about I tap some 5/16 holes and use bolts.... strong enough for axle yokes;)

also got the boggers swapped back on the 8 lug black steel rims and it looks much better than the aluminum outlaw rims!

How thick is the steel that you used as a backing for the latch? if it's not thick enought to get atleast 4 or 5 threads into it then I would look more into drilling it, taping as much as you can then use studs and weld them in and use cap nuts (don't forget the lock tight)...

How are the latches going to work? I see they clamp on to something, but what forces it to clamp on that object?

the latches are on the inside of the door, to open the door you pull up on the green handle and that raises the latch arm with the rubber bumper on it,

to latch it, simple push down on the green part and it latches in place, the black rubber bumper clamps agianst the inside panel, "where your seat belt mount is on a 80's blazer"
