Found this SBC Low Oil Pressure, Lifter Noise article: https://roadmasterengineworld.com/2018/01/lifter-noise-1997-2013-gm-4-8l-5-3l-5-7-6-0l-engines/

AND it does not say IF this Cam Thrust Plate O-Ring issue is only applicable to LS Motors; or IF it also includes the vortec sbc motors.

The LS motors used different thrust plates than the vortec's did. I've never seen any of the non-LS SBC OE Roller blocks with a o-ring for the thrust plate or end of cam is there supposed to be one?

I only see two cam thrust part numbers for the GM Gen II SBC OE Roller Cam Blocks; and as far as i know the only difference between them is the bolt pattern spacing; and GM machines & hardens theirs and the repops are just plasma cut and sanded.

Non of them look like they're made for a o-ring unless it just keeps it from coming off end of cam or some shit...

I'm a flat tappet cam guy and I'm building from scratch a gen ii roller sbc, so i'm curious if i'm missing something on this cam thrust plate retainer o-ring for the non-LS oe gm sbc roller blocks?

thanks in advance.

I don't remember seeing any O ring on the older roller cam block at all. The LS plate blocks off the oil galley for the lifters, and the older blocks have pipe plugs.
