87 5.7 tbi with out O2s

Years ago I put on a set of headers and I deleted my O2 sensor.Well now 7 years later I need to get the truck inspected.In my state they only do emissions testing.My cel light never comes on but when they stick their wand up my trucks ass, will I fail because I have no O2 senso?Is there a way I can lean it out just to get through inspection?

Why not just install a heated 02 sensor? your motor will thank you

I'd be checking your CEL light, I betcha it is burnt out! You can be sure the TBI would be throwing all kinds of codes without an O2 sensor installed.

Like Matt said, go get yourself a heated O2 sensor and install it in one of your collectors. It is easy to install, and you'd pick up all kinds of power / fuel economy. If there is one sensor on your truck that is totally crucial to proper running, it is absolutely the O2 sensor! The sensor you want is a 3 wire sensor, by the way! Run ignition power and ground to it for the heater element, then tie the signal wire into the TBI's O2 sensor wire.

And again, go change the bulb in your instrument cluster, cause the CEL light ain't working, haha

The bulb is def. working.It comes on when I turn the key.I drove the truck for a year without it and the light never came on.Truck runs fine,Im just woried about emissions when I go for inspection in 2 weeks.BTW 87 5.7L TBI .I do need to buy a cheap set of headers,mine are all rusty but no holes yet.Can I get a cheap set somewhere with O2 hole.I dont have much money to spend,I just got hurt at work and I'm collecting workers comp.The bones in my wrist broke and came out through the bottom of my hand.I dont even know were the wire is to plug in a o2 sensor, Its been 7 years since I had one.

I see a empy plug behind the valvecover on the fire wall on the drivers side.Could that be for O2 sensor?

Yes o2 plug is on driver side by the head. If memory serves me correct it's a Purple wire.

Not a problem. When I had my 87 with long tubes I just put it by the collector. Just make sure you keep it up out of harms way.
