so will a 1990 tbi intake setup work with the 87 ecu wiring? i don't see why it wouldn't, but if anyone has had any first hand experience that would be cool. thanks!

I'm pretty sure from when I did my 2 that the '91 had a different TPS connector but the '87 to '90 were the same. On my '91 I actually spliced together both the early and late connectors so that I could use either TB. I believe all other connecters are the same except for the fuel pump relay and maybe the IAC? Though maybe this is a '91 change again. Although Painless wiring do several pigtail connectors to get over such problems.

thanks a bunch, should i run some short of painless kit?

depends on how good you are, the condition/completeness of the wiring you acquired, and how much you want to spend. painless stuff is not cheap, but if you aren't confident or didn't get ahold of very good pieces, it might be worth it to save the headaches. i'd wire/rewire stock stuff as needed, but that's just me.

I'd just offer it all up and see where your connectors differ then phone Painless and tell them what you need!

ill give wiring it up a try when i get it. and i guess just verify the tps, thanks!

i just read something about drilling the intake if i use my old heads, but i wont have any problems using later heads (90's) on an 85 right?

At some point in the late '80s they changed the angle of the center two intake bolts on both sides. With some angled shims and some grinding of the intake I have heard it is possible to make one work with the other.

yeah, i have seen people do that. but if i have the heads that came from the donor i was thinking i could use those, right? then i don't have that problem i think.

Ok, I mis-read your question the first time. If you are moving both the heads and the intake from the same vehicle you should be fine. Just watch cam lift if you are going with vortec heads, and you may have to use the valve covers that came with the heads.

i have no idea if the 1990 blazer heads are vortec. but if they are i need a new cam? i thought i could get away with my stock 85 one.

No, vortec heads didn't start 'till the mid to late '90s. If you are pulling parts from a '90 you should be fine.

sweet, so everything is bolt on in my case, heads intake, distributor. doesn't sound to bad... thanks for your help!
