87 F150 2wd Springs

If your going to run your 57's from the stock hanger location with the ORD or my flip reversed then 2 inches longer on the shackle is about right. You could run the stock shackle if you moved the hanger assembly back a few inches but might not take advantage of the longer shackles droop capability.

I guestimated about 190 spring rate based on the rear end weight of my truck and how far it settled onto the 57" spring. I'd like to find out for sure though.

Okay I already run a 2" rear spring, with zero rates offset 1.5" and the ORD shackle flip with a 2" longer shackle. Your saying I could swap in the ford springs with no other mods?My shackle would just move/pivot further back right?

Thats all there is to it asuming the ORD shackle flip brackets can be reversed (right one on the left side and vice versa) as I'm told they can. I don't own a pair so I can't go look /forums/images/icons/smile.gif .

Just talked to a local spring shop, said they could build me a custum set of springs, any length, rate, width, and leaves per pack, arch height, for between $150 and $250 per pack. What is ideal for a k5 in the rocks? I was thinking stiff bottom leaf and getting softer as you work your way up, and 60" long, I would move my hangers back to allow for the greater flex. I am looking to play in the rocks and sand for the most part with a little snow and sand. Also want about 8" of actual lift, on road performance is not much of an issue. Any input would be helpful.

A spring shop can weigh your vehicle and make a custom set of progressive springs to your desired travel. At that point it really becomes a question of how much travel do you want and how much weight do you want it to support on compression and they should work out the rest for you. If you build your truck to where you want it first (height, weight travel, etc), and then take this route with the springs you'll find the results can be very rewarding. I live fairly close to National Spring and have seen many happy owners who took your route. Price is about the same at $500 a pair.

You can also give Stephen Watson a call at ORD. He is pretty good for getting custom springs made up. PM Boss and ask him about his. /forums/images/icons/smile.gif
