87 k10 dome light

hi ive got an 87 k10 and my dome light does not work at all the bulb is good and ive replaced the fuse but still nothing. just curious what i should look for that may be wrong or how to fix it.

I would trace the wire and ground back to they start and also check to see if one of the buttons in the door jam is bad.

nope both buttons are good but sure ill trace stuff

power at the socket? Power at the fuse? Power out of the headlight switch? Be sure to check the grounds.

I dont know if your wiring would be the same as my 84 K5. But the wiring in these trucks is weird. On my Blazer, I have a interior light down under the dash, if the wires get messed up or by passed, none of the other lights will work. I wanted to rewire all my lights with LEDs and that is how I Found out that, this interior light had like 3 wires and 2 of them being constant 12volts, it was very weird. Something to check anyways.

Pull the door switches and check the wire. My drivers side was rusted off. I never fixed because I like it not coming on when I open the door.

how do I pull the door switches?

Unthread them, pull straight out. Capture the wires when you disconnect them.
