I'm trying to finish the body work on my k5 and I was wondering if anyone had any ideas about what to do with the floor in the rear of blazer. Its rusted out and the rear floor support is rusted through. I already have the support but I'm not sure what I'm going to do with the floor boards. Do you guys think it I should just order all new floor pans from lmc or somewhere like that or use sheet metal and try to fabricate something. I was also thinking about using an old bed off of a truck if I could find one I could cut to fit. Any ideas?

If you have the tools and some talent at it, it's actually easier and more cost effective just to cut out the rot and fabricate it yourself.

I bought my '90 and thought I was good until I went to use the seat belt and the pillar fell apart. Had to cut out a LOT of floor and some of the pillars.

If you haven't already, I would recommend pulling up all the carpeting, especially around the front seat area and check for any cracks in the floor boards around the seat mounting bolt area.

I used undercoating rubber and DynaMat on my whole floor. Helps with noise and heat.

Hope this helps.

I would use an old bed if you can find one to use. Most will tell you the sheet metal from LMC is cheap stuff. I wouldn't waste my money on there stuff. I have been replacing all the junk I got from them when I started my build

Thanks for the ideas. Yea I have already took the carpet up in the front and replaced some of the sheet metal under both seats, but I didn't do a very good job the first time because I was only like 16 at the time and didn't have a welder so I just riveted new metal in, but now I actually want to do it right and replace all the rusted out metal. The only problem in the rear is the supports going across the floor are rusted also so I think my best bet is to find an old bed that is still in decent shape

I second the buying a old bed floor.. Just finished mine, bed floor panel ribs no where near wide enough, thin. Looks ok after welding and coating. I just used duplicolor Kelar bedcoat.

Oh ok thanks for your reply's. I've been looking around for a bed to use. Anyone know someone with old c/k bodystyle parts around PA or MD?

let us know how the job goes fixing the floors. I just bought a 88 jimmy with the same problems. 2 rot holes in the back and rotted rear floor support. Im not really sure where to start on it

Ok I will keep posting as I work on it. I'm going to look a bed this weekend so hopefully it's in good shape and I can use it for floor panels and maybe my fender. And yea my blazer is all rusted out the whole way across the rear floor boards where the tailgate seals. The rear support is also rusted the whole way through.
