87 K5 Build...Hmmm, whats that Ryoken up to? stay tuned...

That's too bad about the gauges. I liked the idea of having them out on the cowl, under the hood.

I think glory hole is a better name for the air cleaner.

Well maybe not better, but it makes me chuckle.

Why not put the gages on the windshield pillar, like everyone has in there Diesel trucks.:dunno:

i spy-d that... no real way with the cage post there... i'm fine with running em over there on the dash in the middle.. i even have angle rings now to point em a bit to me...

only issue is i need to do a bit of modding to get them centered over the lcd panel, but not a huge deal.. well that, and i'm not sure what i'm doing about trans pressure now... all the 300psi pressure gauges are mechanical.. and THAT is one mechanical i definitely dont want inside, but i'll figure something out..

For whatever reason the angle rings didn't work for me... but is this the location you are talking about?

But what about a cage mounted gauges? I believe I have seen bolt on brackets for them before.

yeah.... tho the cage mounted cups are pretty trick, and it's pretty cool, there really is no viable spot... THE only viewable exposed cage is that A-pillar, and with the grab handle, the only spot they would fit is to the inside of that tube... and that sticks out WAY to much...

edit...... I just noticed, I should really go outside and trim some vegetation, as apparently i have a tree growing thru my unused back shop door..... :doah: :haha:

only issue is the fact both the fuel, and trans pressure gauges will need to be isolated units now.... $$$$

That's easy to fix, electric fuel pressure guage and ditch the trans pressure gauge. You don't need one anyway, it's not like it's something your going to fix on the trail. Tranny temp is nice to know, and if the tranny get's hot you wait in P with the engine running so it can cool down. However, tranny pressure? Most tranny guys don't even use tranny pressure gauges for diagnostics much these days. I test drive can tell you most of what you need to know. And if you lose tranny pressure, you'll know pretty much immediately anyway, without the gauge. :thumb:

Build is going awesome by the way, you're getting closer everyday, I actually feel like there is hope now that you'll finish that masterpiece!

thanks Heath, now that i'm actually working on it again, I'm motivated.... my original end of summer plan is shot now with that hiatus.. plus the money's just not there... but whatever, it's done when it's done, just keep plugging away..

the whole trans pressure gauge idea came about because of BTO wanting line pressure readings for warranty, etc, with a temporary hookup.. so i said screw it, i'll put a fulltime gauge in it.....

I actually think it might be a very informative, good idea with the 700's.... pressure down a bit, somethings needs addressing, etc... now in my case where I'm gonna run the rmvb and it's full line pressure all the time, probably not as valuable a tool as a tv cable version... but still a warning...

i actually thought about this this morning.. I can do it, but it wont be an AM gauge... we run oil pressure isolators in the bigger dizzle boats all the time... most of those twindisc, etc tranny's run temp and oil pressure gauges.. and they run in that 200 psi range with 300lb gauges..... so it's definitely doable.... albeit, with a non-matching gauge as all the AM's are mechanical....

but I'm not worried at all... all that just went WAY down the priority list, once i decided i couldn't run em outside.... like ya said, it's not necessary.... vac is fine inside, I'll already be running the MAP in the cab... and I'm ok with investing at some point in a isolated fuel setup... that, i'll probably do before it comes back out...

went in this morn, and said "Fock you guys, I'm taking a vacay day" and came back home... so i'm gonna try to get some work done... gotta get the trans/t-case back in AGAIN today for the rear airpan mockup....

Nice foliage indeed:waytogo: It gives the dungeon a rather earthy feel:haha:

fitting, considering it's probably my fave band.. Sab and L7 get the most play time in the dungeon...

Sabbath and L7, H3ll of a swing there:rolleyes: Some of the hardest rockin dudes and the baddest chicks ever. I havent heard anything about L7 since MTV still played music videos:whistle: In fact all the way back to when headbangers ball was on at night.

I've said it before in here, not to be dismissed.. the best chick band ever, hands down.... tons of originality and musical soul too.... most don't give it a chance....

Bricks are Heavy is probably the most well known with Everglade, Sh*tlist, Pretend we're Dead, etc... but the first 4 albums are awesome.... the last one in 99 was a little weak, Slap Happy..

listen to all 5 of those start to finish and tell me they don't kill it.... :saweet: There's actually a ton of stuff without vids that are actually my most often played... "Can I Run" from the Silent Hill movie is epic....
