The amount of technical content in this thread FAR exceeds what goes on in 99.9% of the build threads here. That is a FACT. Even with a few occasional detours into the realm of music or skateboarding this build thread has an insanely high "Signal to Noise" ratio (as I like to call it) When you show up on this thread, you can expect to learn something technical and/or see some impressive fabrication or paintwork.
When someone makes the commitment to start a "Build Thread", they should understand that members are expecting to see exactly that..... 70%, 80% or 90% technical content is great. When a thread devolves to the point where a few members are deliberately post padding and filling up a build with unrelated crap about nachos (or whatever) to the extent that half of every thread page is filled with useless info, you can expect that a moderator is going to step in and say something.
That being said, none of us are robots building trucks in a vaccuum with no other outside influences affecting our lives. It is unrealistic to expect that a build thread NEVER discuss things of a more personal nature... we are all human and hopefully those stories and extra-cirricular activities provide some interesting "context" for the build and the person building it.
To that end, keep in mind that the OP will post status when there actually IS status to report..... let the thread slide off the first page when the build is going slowly and give the guy some room to breathe. Bumping an older thread with a comment like "Updates?" is more antagonistic than helpful in most cases.
