I have my moments... consistency is my prob, just don't get enough trigger time....... it's a 50/50 shot.... lately i have been having trouble with seeing...

eh, got enough to do... if it bothers me that much i'll just hit it with the 7" stone and put a nice one over the top... when i really take my time i can lay some nice bead, but as many do, I rush thru alot of stuff too.....

I do enough carbide burr, hogging out kinda stuff already out of necessity.... must have 50 of them things.... i have an electric too... like the joint at the other end HAD to be smooth.... the trans mount holes, etc...

Paul, I have been tracking much of your thread but haven't donated much thought to it. Don't know why but the crossmember a few posts above is really nice. Very unique yet so simple. Great job on all of it. Nice! this thread is a great read too.

thanks Hoby...... :D i'm happy with it so far.. as usual it's engineering on the fly....the lower joint worked out very well i think... it's what I pictured in my head...

couple of x-member notes.... started locating and mocking up the rear section and 205 mount... also think i figured out my exhaust routing... but i did realize today that i kinda screwed myself on a front bolt-on, trans pan section i had planned... :( still gonna do it, just need to find a rework... :deal:

tool note.... looks like I'm ordering my Quincy 2-stage on july 15.... then it's back to the parts list, headers.. :saweet:

i just called down to fazzios in glassboro. they have your 2.5" x .250 square tube. $26.50 for a 4' piece. he said they don't stock any DOM larger than 1.75. they are having a special right now in seamless 2 1/4 od x .250 wall. $26 for a 12' stick. if your wall store can't get it, give me a yell. i'm only about 20 minutes from glassboro. i can pick some up for you.

oh yeah.. truck is looking good!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ya Ace Hardware here in town has grade 8 hardware and you pay by the pound. Its cheap i guess, havent really gone other places to compare.

nice start to the holiday weekend for my compressor budget..... :woot:

worked 7 hrs today at $45 an hr, and got a $200 tip..... :saweet: sweet, wish every day was a $500 day! :doah:

case of beer on ice and 2 days in the dungeon to commence! :weld::grind::grind::weld::haha:

Paul, a thought I've had after removing some of the crossmembers on my frame was that the trans, and middle body mount crossmembers are constructed in a way to provide a triangulation between the framerails, I think, to help control twisting of the frame. I will be using some triangulation in my two bar crossmember (for the doubler setup) that I hope will control twisting in addition to the boxing of the frame.

Have any thoughts about this concerning your application?

good question Dave..... yes and no.... :wink1: as with most things, it's a compromise....

I'm only gonna be able to control it on a vertical plane so much with the dropout design... it was inherent.... i'm hoping the drop angle and stupid beefyness of the backing plates will help control that ... the 205 mount should help with that too....

on a horizontal plane, once the back bar is in and it's tied together with the existing one, it should be bulletproof.....

I'm relying more on front and back bumper to help with that the most... the rear will have similar construction to the front, sandwich mount, beef, etc...

haha, soon sir, soon..... been working hard, i'll have an update this weekend...
