actually it's the blinker fluid reservoir bracket!

it's my 205 mount....

We are going to hold you to that... even if you drop the keel of a yacht on your leg. :deal:

no chance of that... i put a huge gel job out the door today and was told to take tomorrow off.. it's been, let's just say, a brutal week for me.... :(

so 3 days off for healing, which means some quality dungeon time... :D

the x-member is basically done for now.... eventually I'm going to add a removable front trans pan section... then a skid for the bottom...

and as you can see, I'm using the same cutdown mount from the front on the t-case... i need to pick up another pair to get the 3rd one... that'll leave me one as a spare replacement for any of the 3 mounts...

plain grade 5 hardware... shame on you :shame: :D

EDIT: Are those sight glass fittings on the t-case?

the hardware is temporary till my next hardware order...... and yes, the 205 will have a sight tube...

tank ya sir......

I'm very happy with it, stupid strong.. and VERY glad it's basically done.... it was a f*ckload of work...... tons of fitting, grinding, etc....

next weekend hopefully I'll be installing my new compressor.. so this week I'm taking a break from the truck to organize, clean and prep the dungeon.... it needs it...

oh, and just to stir some chit, I'm going with a 1/4" AL skid on the bottom... same stuff thats on the front bumper...

Just wondering what grade plating for the skid? Isn't there different hardness' that would hold up to bashing better than softer stuff.

And looking back about torsional stiffness of your frame and t/c crossmember, I don't think you'll have to worry much as well as your cage is built and tied to the frame....twisting shouldn't be a concern I would think. Again cool fab...wish I could replicate it to some extent on the IronMaidens' doubler cradle.

iirc, i used 6061 on the front skid..... the main reason I'm gonna run it is the weight.... i don't want to have to manhandle a steel sheet down whenever i need to pull it...

and yeah, once i get the cage tied into the frame, the whole rig should be pretty stiff...

*****next rig project*****

finish up the ds fender and slider so i can get the cab in paint...

then possibly the rear bumper......

I understand the reason for having mounts between the x member and tcase. But what's the reason to have poly mounts between the bolt head and xmember? Is there movement there that needs to be dampened?

if you mean why is there one at the back of the transfer case in addition to the standard 2 at the adapter.. it's there for a couple reasons... mainly it's there to help with the weight of the 205 hanging off the adapter.... thats alot of stress on the fitzall spacer and AL tail of the trans.. it's also there to help keep the rotational torque of the drivetrain under control, especially when in 4WD....

If it was sitting metal to metal (the head of the bolt to the underside of the crossmember) it would viberate and twist on top (at the t-case) but not be able to on the bottom (under the crossmember). That type of twisting could cause it to sheer the head off at some point.....

Or I might not have a clue what I'm talking about.

thanks, sometimes my reading comprehension isn't the best.... :o

that's exactly the thinking behind that style mount afaik.... for the record, those mounts, tho cut down/modded, where the stock replacement style listed for Chevy/GMC trucks from 77 to 84....

i REALLY like how the modded ones turned out... compact, etc.... sidenote, the underside of the mounts where designed to be up enough so that the skidplate will cover/protect the boltheads/mounts....

crazy work man.i need some of that work done to mine.u should work on custom trucks and boats in your spare time.haha.would kinda make workin on your truck an extra chore though after workin on other peoples junk all day.kinda why i decided not to be a mechanic,i like doin it but not all day and then have to work on my stuff too.

I would love to fab all day for a living... I might say different if i actually did it... but i would certainly love it if i could retire and just do it all day... be creative, etc.... but unfortunately i'll be working till the day i drop...

on that note...... :wink1: latest Ryoken injury report... :haha:

my bro in law laughs at me.... he says pro football players got nothing on me, I'm the most beat up individual he's ever met..... :o between all the skate injuries and my job i'm a walking wreck... :doah: :haha:

so, just as the leg wound finally healed, just about 3 months iirc, i f*cked myself up good last week here in the dungeon.... i was tackwelding under the truck without my helmet, laying off to the side, when where did a mig spark jump to of course? right down my freakin ear..... couldn't hit me in the neck, etc, nope, 3 point swish right down the ear... couldn't do that again if i tried...

perforated ear drum.. burned a hole right thru it... just got back from the doc....... hopefully it heals up over the next 10 days or so...... it's a VERY annoying injury.... :( like being on a permanent plane ride...
