thanks...

yeah, Northern... I'm not particularly worried about cooling the mill..... heck, one of the Windstars does the job 98% of the time... and it is just a TBI'd SB afterall..

I figure I can get at least an inch between the coolers... haven't really looked at what it'll do for the plumbing, it should only help the situation...

only issue is upping the cooler sizes, up costs, but I'm hoping that going with more standardized cooling sizes will help offset the higher costs of the unusual sizing/config's i had... all those coolers i had sized where narrow, high tube count ones, which are pricey.. if i go with lower tube count, wide units, the cost goes down...

i'll work it out over the next couple weeks... and if by chance, going huge on the coolers keeps things too cool, i can always add oil thermostats down the road, maybe bulkhead fittings and the therms coming off them on the engine side of the support...

alrighty, steels cooled off, back to the dungeon.... :haha:

Great option to keep in mind, I'm really liking that one. I've thought about the thermo route on the engine oil cooler, but will see where the temp falls before I move on it.

I saw this and thought of your project. This seems like a nifty little all-in- one Car PC. I know you are planning on a huge touchscreen, but I thought I'd point it out.

thats neat... wouldn't work for me, i'd have to cut my heater in 1/2... :doah: :haha: but that definitely looks like a pretty pain free way to get a pc in a vehicle...

i used GPS for THE first time ever in a car going up to steal that boat friday........ I love it! :haha: can't wait to have it on that big touchscreen! :woot:

You should be able to get a better focus on detail shots like these if you turn on Macro mode on your new camera for this type of picture.

iirc, Colby told me the same thing... I really, really need to read the damn book.... i have a tough time just getting it to actually just take a pic.. keeps going to timer, etc... :doah: :haha:

you just gave me a good idea tho.... I'll put the book in my car, and read it in the crapper at work! :haha:

The macro mode is usually indicated by a little pic of a flower on the control and on the LCD when it's activated. You would turn it on for the close up shots, then remember to turn it off for everything else.

well, i actually just spent 8 minutes fiddleing with the camera.. found macro mode, under the programs.. couple other things as well.. i'll still read thru the book soon.....

finished off the patches... i may patch up the small holes as well, then drill/holesaw new ones as needed/where needed..

i need to go research some turn signals.. it's that time.. might as well figure out where and how to mount em now before everything gets painted... i've certainly learned, as much pre-mockup you can do....... do......

hmmm, maybe some fancy schmancy LED ones.. i'll go peak at waytek and delcity...

Your build is just awe inspiring Paul.

Just a thought though, wouldn't it look better if the larger lights were on the outside since there is more room there with the tapered down bumper? Then there could be the gap above the light between the hood. Or better would be to center both lights vertically between the hood and fender. Then it would give a tapered down and out approach. I am sure however you do it, it will be awesome.

Hmm.. just a thought. Is there going to be something in front of the remote filters? It seems a bit open from the picture. It could just be the angle of the picture but seems there might be enough room there to get branches in there to knock those filters around making them leak or worse, puncture a hole in one. like I said, just a thought.

thanks Heath, coming from you, that means alot... :)

that's how the lights are gonna be.. the headlights are in the stock spot behind the grill... the blue ones in the pic are gonna be offroad lights in front of the grill on tabs on the angle down tubes...

honestly I'm not concerned in the slightest... i did leave the design open to have a removable plate behind that main tube, which would in effect protect the filters.. but I'm really not worried about it... here's a little more of a level angle...

they certainly aren't gonna get "knocked around" or leak... you did see the mounting right? yes, i suppose if something strong enough came in at the perfect downward angle, it could stab a filter... but it's certainly a trail item that I'd have a couple of in the truck...

I'd be much more concerned about the offroad lights, but it is what it is, and there's a million rigs running around with lights in the same spot, or worse, with no ill effect...

I venture to guess that the front end will withstand FAR more abuse than 95% of the rigs in here with plastic grills, different bumpers, etc....

Better plan on taking the camera in with you too. If you are like me you'll need to play with the camera while you read the book or you'll forget everything you just read.

No pics from inside the crapper needed!!!!!!!!!!!! :haha::eek1:

yeah, i'd like you guys to keep checking in on the build, not run from the computer screaming.... :doah: :haha:

pushing a 1/2 million views at this point, unfreakinbelievable...

*off to the dungeon for grinding*

i check this build thread like i check facebook... lol i love the build and cannot wait to see it running!

well ryoken, all I can say is that I have been gone since january and it has taken a long time to catch up on your build thread. The paint came out nice and that cowl hood is the tits. I kinda like the expanded metal grill, its different. What color are you painting it.

Also I like the core support fix. I should have done that instead of replacing mine.

What do you have planned for the inner fenders? Just replacement ones or a custom engineered item?

good to have ya back around bud... where you away working or something?

the grill and support are going the same satin black as the bumper... with steelbraided lines and silver coolers behind it...

I'm really leaning towards some custom modded stock steel wells at the moment.. i'll mock up my rusted out metal ones after the shock towers and see if i feel they'd be better as fiberglass... or if i just wanna transfer over the mods to some replacement metal ones... i'm kinda leaning in that direction...

i've heard sooo many horror stories about the durability of the aftermarket support, i really wanted to stay with a GM if possible... this happened to be the one that came with the front clip i bought for the fenders.. the original 87 one was pretty wrecked... major surgery to make it decent.. plus, i think i can run the round headlight buckets in this core...
