87 K5 Build...Hmmm, whats that Ryoken up to? stay tuned...

:haha:

actually that was a nice setup.... :pimp: that head unit controlled one of the original Sony 6 disc cd's in my console, in addition to cassette..

the head unit is still good, but alas the cd player sh*t the bed..

I wanna get in my truck and feel like im turning on a space cruiser from star wars too!!! LOl, but looks sweet!!:thumb:

well, I did say back on like page 3 of the novel when i first cut the floor out, that I was going for a stealth fighter type cockpit... :deal: :haha:

really need to move the front clip work along.. I'm itching to get back into the cab.. need to get the floor Herc'd so i can start doing permanent installs, heat, column, etc.. with all the console panels final painted, it's time to put it all together...

my list of labor seems endless at times...

Happy Birthday dude!

Ok back to work. We need updates! I havent seen this thread drop out of the top 10 in awhile :pimp:

thanks... :D

I've been pretty diligent lately, getting in a few weeknights too, despite my back being fubar-d... but i've been playing with some tedious bractetry, etc ... I've moved a few things along, suppose i could post something........

the rad support is mostly blasted, zinced and started putting the sill in...

tomorrow I'll do the inside.. get it in zinc, seam seal it... then it's back in to mock up the rad, e-box, lights, etc... than back out for final black...

i've also been playing around getting the console together.... still working out a hardware issue on the 205 shifter.. but it's coming together.. i still need to add the inside latch for the compartment... but i think it came out pretty cool...

eh, I've had some sort of herniated/bulging/ruptured disc thing going on since Aug/Sept... it's really starting to drive me nuts, it's incessant...

it's obviously not getting better, and hauling around 150 lb outdrives certainly hasn't helped... coupled with the carpal tunnel annoyance in BOTH hands, and I've had a rough winter/fall.... :doah:

I said on friday to my boss that I wasn't sure if I just needed a month on a beach with some hookers, or a bullet to the back of the head.... :pimp:

*** goes to warm up dungeon ***

That console sure did come out nice Paul, you got to be happy with that. :waytogo:

Lots of little pieces to bend up and weld sure can get old over time, Huh. It feels like that's all my truck has turned into now, a ton of little pieces bent up and welded in.:doah:

As always your stuff is looking awesome. :thumb:

Hope the back feels better and you had a good B-day yesterday..

thanks Mike... :D those brackets proved to be quite annoying... mainly for the measuring factor... they are not square in most directions, the front welded nut surfaces are angled for the grill, etc.. 1/8" with a cutoff wheel, clamp the pieces in place on the truck, drill/bolt, tack jigsaw puzzle in place, remove and final weld, grind and shape, check final fit, rinse/repeat.....

hopefully i can get the support in zinc today and back in the truck, anxious to get all the other stuff mocked up, rad, well mounting, etc..

Yep, sounds like a lot of fun....:haha: :pimp:

and here's a few more of progress on the support... the bottom is basically done.. just needs primer and seam seal... realized today i killed my last tube on the floor gig.. i'll pick a couple up this week... i don't like to keep too much of it around, as it has a horrible shelf-life...

lower pads reinstalled....

that sill may get some additional structure as I'm more than likely gonna put in a custom mount for the rad.. as opposed to just the 2" x 2" spacer tube i had the rad on before.. tho that did work pretty killer... i'll figure that out one night this week when it's back in the truck...
