87 K5 Build...Hmmm, whats that Ryoken up to? stay tuned...

Massive, multi-year builds threads always have a natural ebb and flow (see? A nautical tie-in!) :)

There are periods of massive progress, and periods of stagnation..... We've been there (heck, I'm there right now!). As long as the desire is still there you'll eventually get to the finish line, and we will all be happy to watch it happen.

:usaflag:

hey, thanks guys... :D

I do kinda feel like I'm letting you guys down some.. i'll be back at it... what drives me crazy is pretty much all the hard work is done, it's mostly money and assembly at this point.. every time i go down to do laundry and see the rig sitting there, it's like torture....

i have often thought that, "hey, i get slaughtered all day, what's a few more hrs when i get home?" only problem being, I can barely walk at that point... :doah:

I'm at the same point.

Although my periods of progress aren't nearly as impressive as yours

RYOKEN watch

What's up? Haven't seen you on lately? You getting any time off to rest that back? My spinal injection is actually holding up pretty good...when I overdo it. like I did this weekend (cleaned out garage and cleaned gutters and installed gutter helmets) I got some pain flares that would drop a mule to his knees...but oddly, the next day they were much better...the injections help a lot but they don't get it all unless yours is located in one spot...mines 4 herniated and one spondyla lethesis...:doah:

hey, thanks for asking Dustin.....

the back feels damn good considering I haven't worked in 5 weeks...

I was down in the dungeon today with a couple buds... it got me motivated again... so tomorrow is clean my mountain of disaster tool bags from work day, get the tools organized and put in my roll cab... than hopefully the next day I'll get back to working on the rig...

so maybe/hopefully it wont be long till there is an update...

That's awesome man. Glad to hear the back is feeling a little better for you. Gotta take care of yourself first. The project will always be there when you're ready for it.

as was said glad to hear you gettin better paul.how much time do you got til they need you back?hope to see some new progress.

trying to get motivated on this.. hard when I got Cummins on the brain... :doah:

I've come to the conclusion, I'm just gonna go off on this thing... big OT, big $ parts thru the summer.... have some priorities once I can start throwing coin at this again... mainly a windshield, trans and some misc axle stuff... but I did find the monitor I want to buy for the dash.... a 10.4 Inelmatic 1000 NIT, sunlight readable, yada...

it will fit the dash panel perfect... but for now a little more parts organizing in the Dungeon and maybe some free labor type stuff... got some projects to finish for sure...

Holy chit... you sir, have a problem!

most definitely... :screwy: caviar on a tuna budget! :doah: :haha:

this monitor has been the primary focal point of the interior from the beginning, so I really don't want to skimp on it... the whole "fighter cockpit" thing... I would actually go another size up if I could fit it... ;)

the stats on that screen are stupid good, they should be, for over a grand... damn company is in Spain, hope that doesn't turn out goofy with ordering/shipping...

Being that I'm about to get a decent DD/towrig, I am changing up a few of the purchases/work on the rig...

1 - windshield

2 - gears

3 - 2 gals of Al's Liner and a pail of sound deadener,

4 - trans

5 - pc/touchscreen...

in the meantime, I've gotta finish up the underside of the hood and get it and the ds fender in primer/paint...

Hows the back doing?
Good to see you getting back at this, I want to see the finished product some day soon.
That screen is very cool!:pimp:

And thanks for motivating some of use to accomplish more with our trucks than we would have without seeing your stuff.

feels pretty good, some physical therapy has been helping, thanks...

eh, by far the biggest lag in this build, basically 6 months down.. miss building sh*t tho, so....

tho the future DD/towrig saving is sucking EVERY coin right now, I have recently finished a couple large payments that should help tremendously after said purchase... extra 500 a month should help by some toys...

and you guys are motivating me at this point... to build more off the wall stuff..

one thing that I'm trying to avoid is the subject of whether to now swap it over to a trailer queen.. the makings are mostly there.. sick towrig, check! and I'm sure a trailer is somewhere in the future...

so for now, I'll keep trying to keep it somewhat street legal here in Joyless... I'd REALLY like to drive it to local spots...

I say keep it street legal for two reasons.

One that's what you planned in the first place.
Two, anyone can build a trailer queen. To build a super crazy rig like this that's can pass inspection takes some serious skill. Which you sir have a **** ton of. :waytogo:

hey! if vettes can have HUD's, why can't I!!!! :haha:

I'm telling ya, I'm gonna steal a FLIR camera off a boat... :woot: actually it'll actually probably get a camera somewhere at some point, stupid easy to hook up when ya have a freakin PC in there...

:haha: fock rock lights!!! :haha:

I'll do split screen rock camera's!!!! :woot: :haha:

yup, good advice.. and heck, the way Joysey's going these days, there may be NO inspection by the time I go... :haha: eh, we'll never lose the tree-hugger check... hmmm, maybe I should check into doing QQ.. truck just turned 25...

and thanks.. :D

X2 on this.

good luck with that... i tried QQ.. and you have to be 100% STOCK!!!!!!!!
of course anyone can get the tags... but the cops can hassle you..

in addition... QQ tags are a pita... can only drive to and from shows, only on weekends (sundays?) it is a long list of bull crap that i would rather be just straight up legal...

im almost there... just cant get passed emmissions... i want to do the 6.0L swap but dont have the coin at the moment.. going to try and go back saturday... gonna LEAN the hell out of it.. and try.. that is it.. im just running rich... :dunno:

********** edited...

oh yeah.. and if you were to go to say bloomsburgh or whatever it is called.. and trailer it.. then for some stupid reason you choose to take it to wawa.. cops sit outside and ticket every non legal truck.. so that stupid @ss legal paperwork and stickers really come in handy... when i had my 2 inspection stickers.. i rolled through a checkpoint..
people getting pulled over everywhere for overdue inspection.. i rolled up... cop said... papers ... which i keep above the visor.. handed them to him.. he handed them back and said.. have nice day... SAWEEEEEEET!!!!!!!
