Hey all,

New to this forum so bear with me :doah:

Bought this 1987 K5 Custom Deluxe (305, 4 spd.) last year for $600. It has either 141k or 241k (I'm assuming 241) miles and doesn't smoke except a puff at startup sometimes. Rocker panels rusted out, rear cargo area rusted out near tailgate and the usual front fender rust (in wheel well). Also found rusted/cracked area under passenger seat, which I treated/repaired with POR-15 and their epoxy putty. Used/Using POR-15 on all rusted areas I find, cutting out/re-welding in new rocker panels and rear of fenders, stripping all rattle-canned primer off and all pin striping to prep for paint.

Interior is great shape, all door panels, dash and rear seat still look really good. Just long torn areas on rubber flooring (should I use rubber cement to repair?). I've spent around $800 on tools, parts and supplies so far so trying to save where I can.

Also need to replace padding that was under the rubber flooring but looks like it's close to another $100 just for that...any suggestions?

Will take and post pictures as I go through the process, any help is greatly appreciated!

Spend the $25 to be a member and post pictures are my only suggestions.

Welcome to the club! Do sign up, it's the best $25 I ever spent, that's for sure.

But yes, we have lots of suggestions, once we can see what is really going on!
