87 k5 HELP

So I'm new here. I just traded a Honda shadow for a decent lookin rig. It's been a plow rig for the past several years. The body seems to be in workable condition with the typical rust for upstate NY. It had a 350 in it but was swapped for a nice running 250, six banger. I'm unsure of the axles and transfer case. But I was told by the former owner that the trany is whipped although I haven't tried runnin it. I have located a different trany for 300.00 plus my core. I think the truck is worth it. Im not gona make some high dollar toy out of it, I plan on runnin it as a DD. Any info would be great. Thanks again.
