Just watched my buddy take out a 700r4 & put it back in,..just need to reconnect the exhaust,..busted bolts. But yea,...quite a process and very interesting to watch things fit into place. So glad there are interchangeable parts at reasonable prices at the local wreckin' yards. Now just gotta get it to kick over( it did before) and take it for a test ride. :waytogo:

Also seriously thinking of putting in Tru-Trac Diffs in the front & back,..get out of the stock ones. Also am wondering what transfer case is preferrable if I decide to switch to Tru-Trac Diffs?

always put some serious miles on a newly purchased vehicle before putting money into it. You never know if another tranny, t-case, engine, brakes, axles, etc might be needed sooner than you think.

I do have 2 '87 K5's now & the one I'm favoring is the one I inherited from my deceased brother and its a 5.0/SM465/NP208 and it's the one I'm wanting to put tru-tracs in. But it's very sound,.. and runs great.

The one with a 305 and a 4 speed isn't a Silverado trim, is it?

I figured as much. SM465's are pretty rare in Silverado trim.

I hadn't realized that I inherited somewhat of a gem with the SM465 in this '87 K5 Custom Deluxe Blazer,... I do intend on hanging on to it and keeping it maintained.

Dangit,..I knew someone was gona ask,...Idk why I'm not able to upload pics to my posts. I will get my nephew to help me out here,...
