Notice the nod to RealOldsPower.com.
Used to live over there until they had a huge server crash... the site pretty much never recovered.

Body looks pretty clean and straight!

It really is. Damn thing is the second best g body I have owned. Even better them my monte carlo ss.
I had a 78 cutlass that's was super mint, so mint that I had to flip it!

I am thinking a black cherry or a Brandywine color will be sweet on this car.
Something with some pop, but close enough I won't have to bother with a changing the interior color right away.

Thats hilarious, I was going to say I liked the color as a joke, and then you mentioned black cherry, which is the same color I ended up painting the regal. ha ha

Ok, now you have to post a pic.( I have seen your car before, but for reference)

And yeah, while the body is straight, it needs some work. the vinyl top is shot. I tried a black dye on it and while it technically worked it looks like crap.
I'll pull the vinyl this time and the hood center line trim and the higher midline door trim. Probably the Oldsmobile emblems. Probably won't be able to get rid of the rocker chrome as it provides symmetry to the chrome around the windows and bumpers.
I'll probably add a rear spoiler as the rear trunk lids looks a mile long without something breaking it up.
Although I might look for something else other then the 442 spoiler

I had to dig, I have one before, and some after...

For a short bit I had some cheap skinny tires on the front that were too small and with everything I did under the hood to cut weight the front sat a little high for a bit too(I cut 1.5 coils off of V6 springs in the pic on the blacktop with a 26"s skinny) but I am actually putting coilovers in it right now with the big block swap), but I don't have a good pictures of the new front skinnies in the sunlight, and since black cherry changes from basically looking black to maroon depending on the light, you need to see it in different light to know if you like the color. This color I saw on a 2000 Grand Prix(don't remember if its black cherry or dark cherry now), which is what I looked up to find the paint codes.

With a maroon interior, like you, a little limited in colors, maroon, black, white, grey, etc. But you can get black cherry in more black or more maroon, they have black cherry in many different shades. Although some look a little purple, so be careful or it may look more purple next to the maroon interior.

Damn it's amazing how much less like a soccer mom car or grandma car that looks like once you brought it down and stuffed meats out back. So... what's that motor.. a small block Chevy? Heheh

Thanks Steve, the meats are DOT Hoosiers(28 x 11.5) only to drive it to the track, the small rear tires are the street tires, they Hoosiers did rub sometimes in the stock wheelwells around corners and stuff after I lowered it.

It was a 388 small block for 20 years, not anymore, big block sitting in it, but isn't running again yet. But I won't plug up beags thread with my stuff.

Just putting the pics in there for the color, although now I am wondering if beags secretly bought my old wheels from my father and painted them black, ha ha. I pulled off my wheels like that in '05 and last I knew there were sitting in the attic in my fathers barn.

You got the BBC in? Cool!

Feel free to plug up the thread all you want, when I get to building something I'll start a build thread. I do get butt hurt about build thread derailments though.:angry1:

Huh, funny thing about those wheels, I found them for free at a barn/garage sale in northern IL.....Just kidding...
Actually I traded a friend a NP203 for those wheels. He wanted to build a doubler and pretty much pushed them on me. When they wouldn't clean up real well I powercoated them black... kind of before the black wheel trend....they work...for now.

Between the color and the wheels is kind of like a brother from a different mother...

Yeah, olds instead of Buick, ha ha :thumb: They even both had the chrome along the bottom. Although I don't think mine ever had the vinyl top.

Heck I don't need the wheels anyway I thought it would be funny if they were the same set. He probably sold them at a swap meet by now I am assuming.

The bumpers and hood are Glasstek(good quality stuff), and I replaced the front and rear molding pieces between the lights and the bumpers with fiberglass as well, but I don't remember where they came from, they are seperate pieces on each side liek factory. The factory stuff was kind of warped and didn't look the best anymore, and the steel bumpers weighed a LOT. Although your bumpers seem to be molded into your body in that year with the wide newer lights.

I made aluminum bumper supports for the front, and the rear I made steel with a DOM cross bar since the fuel tank is right there.

I figured this would be your build thread, I tried to keep it relavant to stuff that might inspire you since you asked about the color.

I was aware of glasstek, the monte will get a full fiberglass treatment someday... doors and all.
But I hadn't look at cutlass parts.

Now I see that have the lower front and rear bumpers. Which is sweet. I'll definitely add these to the list. The original ones have some spotting rust on them. Plus I see yours look great painted.
Maybe I can lose that stupid chrome on the rockers after all..

I see they are local to me. maybe I can work with them for a custom lower front with dual turbo inlets....

Also....
I think a black with a red metallic could be cool.....
