'87 Suburban Build "munepit" I'm Back! Missed all you guys!

I was doing construction work on a casino a few years ago when one of the guys I work with had his Cadillac-tick converter stolen from under his rig in the parking garage. It was caught on camera too. It was a white ferd Suv & a short Mexican.
The POpO did nothing about it.

I just went to look. Still there. Its illegal anyways. It doesn't have the big numbers lasered on it facing down. Last yr. went to get new exhaust installed. The guy couldn't remove it or he would have to put in a new legal one in.

Thanks though, I forgot about people stealing those.

Jeff, I bought some 56 stock replacements made by Dayton Spring, and took a couple leaves out to get the ride height I want. It rides great, seems to handle good when the death wobble isn't present, and flexs pretty good (so I'm told) too.

Ya, your rigs flexes well!. I need 2" lift springs I think. I need 6", I hashes the shackle flip and front springs are being shipped. I looked at so many 56" spring threads, im going crazy. So, the stock 56s give you no lift right. If so, I will order 2" 56s.

Thanks.

Jeff, you might want to grab a set of zero rates. With the shackle flip, the axle always seems to move way forward. I've got zero rates going on all corners, just to move the axles away from each other. Just thinking...

O and sorry about your snooper, low life, hope he gets hit by a car while looking at another

stock 56's give you about 6", my burb has stock 56's and stock 63's

Damm, stock 56s and a 4" shackle flip will be about 10"s? Crap. I want to lower the beast. I just ordered 6" front springs and I have a ORD flip witch is 4" I believe.

What should I do. My brain is fried right now. I need a vacation.

that's with that set up already, I have the flip in the back 6 inch shackles and 63''s, with 56's and a 7 inch shackle in the front gives me the 6 inches.

I don't think you can buy 2" 56s, last I knew. You can get 2" 52s, that's what I have on the back with the 4" flip. If you want to move the axle try drilling a new hole in the spring pad on the axle, I don't like zero rates because they just increase your likelyhood of having spring wrap and wheel hop. You will need to clearance the ubolt plate then, or get an aftermarket one thats already clearanced.

I do think you will want to get a 3" or 4" (7"-8" total lift) lift spring for the rear though to match a 6" front. , suburbans weigh a lot in the back and if you lift them both the same the rear will probably end up sagging from what I've seen.

What if I get some new 56s for the rear and add my add-a-leaf to it. It's the one in my rear pack right now. I think it is a 2". I could also order a Zero Rate from Kert. Maybe that would work.

Maybe get a 4" lift 56" spring, a 2.5" shackle flip, and 1-2" longer shackles(.5-1" more lift), I think that's the best of everything, including a longer shackle to help give you more droop/travel. With the 56s you can flip them around to move your axle back if you want too I believe. But maybe that's too much. You can always redill the spring perch to move the axle without a zero rate.

What about lowering the mounts an inch?

Too much work for me. I think for the rear I could do stock 56s and the add-a-leaf I have now, and/or a Zero Rate.

The front springs came in today.

Plans are changing. Im going with this setup. I am picking up the front 56s and 7" DIY4x shackles this weekend from a guy on Pirate. He lives in Fresno. Which is an hr and a half each way. He also has some 64" rear springs for sale also. Here is his truck on 56s/64s with 39" tires.

with 64s your pretty much garunteed at needing an anti wrap bar. You can get away with it with 56s. at least i have been
