'87 Suburban Build "munepit" I'm Back! Missed all you guys!

So I should take some out? It has to come off anyway. Easy to do. Takes like 10 minutes.

I don't know really, I don't know anything about the winch. It depends on what type of gears they are, and how much space is free for the grease to move around as the gears move. But I have no experience with a winch, I was just busting you balls! They are nice parts.

Cool, I used the thread about waterproffing a winch as a reference. It looks like he used more than me. There was hardly any on there from the factory. This is my first winch too. So, I am learning. The bumper/winch combo is freakin heavy, I can hardly move it.

cool bumper & winch combo...

I'd say grind some of the handle and leave the bumper alone. It's too nice to cut into.

Damm, I never thought of that!!!!!!!!! I will do that:waytogo: Thanks for the great idea!!!!!!!!:waytogo::bow:

Can't you just unbolt the lever and bend it a little? Then you don't need to grind either.

Nice!!! I cant wait to get off work and head home to play/work!!!

Thats a great idea also. I will try and bend it first, The grind if I have to!!!

Thanks guys:bow:

wow. i'll be honest i would have never thought of working on the handle and not the bumper.

sometimes you just need a set of eyes further away from the problem.

I know huh. Me neither. I got the arm off. One small allan bolt. I will try and bend it a little.

One allen bolt and the arm came off. I bent it a little and reinstalled. It took about 5 minutes. That was easy.

I had to refill my Co2 tank today. The guy told me it was very illegal to carry a full Co2 tank in any passenger compartment. I think I am going to do a different setup, Like the engine drivin York compressor and a tank under the body. Lots of room under there.

That's what I did, the york is very fast.

How come the bumper isn't installed yet?

Beacuse his deadbeat local CK5 friend hasn't gone by to help him yet..... Sunday Sunday Sunday, it will be on there if not before if Jeff can get the last stubborn rivet out.

I have ground down all the rivets. I spent a whopping $10.00 at harbor freight for a air hammer and not one will come out. I was using my Co2 tank also. It has more pressure than Toms air compressor that I am using. I don't even own an air compressor. That is lame. Thanks Tom for that. Come over!!!!! I can't get the ground down rivets out. Wtf!!

I know it is cheap, but it is like a machine gun when hooked up to the Co2 tank. It seems to work good, it must be the operator.

This bumper will be on and pics will be up on Monday.

Impact "speed" is not always the way, I own a cheap craftsman (sounds like a machine gun on my 175psi air comp) and a snap on air chisel, the "stroke length" on the snap on makes it hit HARD... cuts a chevy frame rivet quick!

I have the same air hammer. Works good enough. You might have to bust off the other side of the rivet on a few, they will come out easy after that.

I only have 6 rivets (IIRC) under my belt :) Engine crossmember

I have a cornwell airhammer and i used it to knock the heads off the rivets then push them through the frame took me like ten min to do 5 of them. Also I was just using a cheap lowes aircompressor.
