'87 Suburban Build "munepit" I'm Back! Missed all you guys!

Looks awesome man :thumb: I wish I would have gone with the a bomb when I did my 52" swap but I don't think they were available at that time.... and of course I welded my b-52 brackets to my frame and custom front cross-member :doah: oh well yours looks sick, I like the plug placement as well...

So, I should probably just put the solenoid back in the box and mount the box right? If I dont use the box, There could be some chance of electrical fire? It would be easier not to use the box, But, The only reason to use it is to proctect the solenoid from arking on something right? There is to many holes in it to make it waterproof so I dont now what to do. Any help would be much appreciated!!!

Thanks

Whats in the baggie next to the lighter? :smokin2: :rotfl: Just kidding.
I like how you have the plug next to the light.

:thinking:I think I would ditch the box. You said it would work much better w/o it.
Can you mount it on the firewall or in the engine bay somewhere? Aren't there other electrical items mounted in there that are equally exposed?
IMHO I think you could easily make a waterproof box for it.

I don't have any winch mounting experience, however I have mounted a few wenches in my day.

Nice work. :waytogo:

That brings back the college days at Chico St. The box takes up too much room. I can mount it in a safe position up high on the fender next to the firewall. I need to redo all the wiring anyways, Might as well put it where I want right. I dont have the tools or knowledge to build a watertight box for it.

Bored at work so I will post something.

I took this fridge out of storage and put it on the patio next to the pool. I stocked it with a 30 pack of Michelob Ultra and a 18 pack of Bud Light (chugging beer) a case of misc. soda and a case of water. The beer should last me until the weekend.

Dude IM SO FREEKING JEALOUS!!! Ive wanted a rockstar cooler for so long lol. They hav a sweet one at the college thats just like a black minifridge with glass on the front and its really cool and i so just wanna take it all stocked up with rockstars lol.

Cool, Funny thing is, I drinking a huge Red Bull right now.

TRAITOR!!! lol just kiddin I like red bull too, but man for a while their rockstars were keeping me alive between work, college, and the lady, and 4-5 hours of sleep a night lol. They are soo bad though so I kinda stopped that every day lol

Looks like a pine beetle thing I think thats what Im thinking about, I call them stink bugs, squash it and see if it smells!!!!

I had about 20 minutes to play with the rig today. Ok, this is my first winch, so, please tell me if this is stupid/dumb idea. I mounted the remote plug between the headlights. The control box will be mounted as high and as close to.the firewall is possible in case of water.

Anyways, her is what I did. What do you think. It OS on the driver side for visibility when someone is using the remote and I'm in the drivers seat. I can get a new headlight bezel for $5.00 if this is a bad idea.

Placement works great just reinforce the bezel, a long stud from the core support a coupler nut with a jamb nut to set the length right behind the bezel and a screw through the bezel into the coupler, should make it pretty solid!

I installed my Diy4x front diff cover and when I pulled the stock one off there was a bunch of metal shavings on the magnet. CRAP, I think I should have put the magnet on the new cover. Great, Now I need to do it all over again. there is only a few miles on the new gears. I hope it is just the break in.

And the gear oil. I think there is some water mixed in.

ahahahahaha
I think I eat ice cream the same way.

For the magnet, you could slap it on the outside for now, might help gather new shavings to the bottom and stay there. I'd say it's breaking in also, as long as it's all from the gears :) Bearings don't break in lol

I had to get a new tire on my truck today. I was checking out all the tires when I came across these. I can get them for $160.00 for 4. I have always liked the looks of these. I would have to use the rims my 42s are on. Should I do it? The 42s ride like chit. Im sure these would rde better, But how are they off road? I know they are awesome in sand, But how about rocks and trails? Another concern is the dry rot. Would this be a bad idea due to the dry rot. What said the brotherhood?

Thanks!

Myself personally, i dont think they are a good enough tire to mess around with. If they were in like new condition, i guess maybe. But to put your kids in that thing and drive down the road in tires that look that bad WITHOUT air in them, I dont think its worth it.

That dryrot isnt too bad, Im sure some will disagree.

I would run em, thats alot of tread for that price.

Im sure the bus full of nuns will be ok

Can you get them and easily swap back and fOrth between. Keep the 42 for trails and micks for sand and street?

Im going to say no and heres why

1.The tread looks like more of an A/T and we know you love to play in the mud

2.The cracking is baaaaaad,Check the last 2 digits of the dot # on the side of the tire and you will know its age. Anything past 5 maybe 6 and you dont want to be running that on the street at high speeds.

3.4 ply sidewalls  , Hope you wont be goin near any rocks any time soon.
