I just got a 1987 GMC Suburban with 103k on it.
It seems to be very rich at idle, but runs great once you get moving. I tackled a few things right away trying to eliminate the problem.
Here is what has been done to: (It was running rich before I did any of this)
-Ultimate TBI Mod with TBI and POD Spacer - throttle body was completely cleaned at this point.
-open air filter
-complete tune up
-fuel filter
-O2 sensor
-coolant temp sensor
-removed converter
This added quite a bit of power back and improved idle quite a bit. It seems to be running very rich at idle and occasionally has a high idle. I am not sure what to look for next. I checked for vacuum leaks, swapped out the IAC motor as well.
Any help or pointer would be great.
Thanks
