87 tbi blazer running hot

225* freeway/city means it's not a fan issue. Fan problem would only be evident in town., not cruising unloaded.
.

:doah:

too much thinkin here, yeah, forgot about that.

i asked about the A/C being running though while driving, as i know this heats these trucks up easily to that point, even with the heavy duty setup. (Buddy has the same setup as mine and runs his A/C)

driving with no ac i would burn up before i got to my destination :haha:

and to be honest, i HAVE had better luck with the heavy duty fan clutch in city (stop & go) traffic.

and really the only time i have ever heard it enguaged is climbing the hills heading to and from Cali out in the desert area in the middle of summer.

maybe it's just a personal preference, i just think they work better and faster at the radiator temp changes.

well, no A/C, i'm gonna have to start agreeing with a screwy guage reading then, try getting readings of the water temp, and maybe see if you have someone you know that has one of those infrared heat guns and check the temp at the sensor itself.

you know it's the one in the head, right?

Ok, the really low tech redneck way of checking the true temp of the coolant. Take the rad cap off and let it come up to temp at idle. Stick a thermometer in the rad(make sure it is flowing) and see just what temp it is reading. It may not be exact, but will be real close, close enough to check your gauge.
