87 tbi starts then dies

Check your fuel pressure--the injectors may be spraying fuel, but not enough. I suspect your fuel pump is weak/going south.

well, I sprayed a bunch of carb cleaner in/around the TBI. and it seems to idle now..
maybe it was just really dirty?
also when it would bog down, there would be a bunch of white smoke

ok and also, it was running a bit better, then today on the way home, at a red light, my truck shut off.
and before that, it started to bog down at another red light...

Check your fuel pressure, it's pretty much the first thing I ever check on these things anymore with symptoms like that.

my buddy checked the fuel pressure, and he said it's good.
i didnt ask what the numbers were, but ..
It runs good when driving, but when I come to a stop, or idling it bogs like its running out of gas, or getting too much gas?

Coils Coils Coils. for some reason my tbi 95 loves its coils. and does things similar to what you are saying. You are getting fuel sounds like so there is really only one other condition required for ignition.

Had the coil tested it was good,

i bet the coil looks like this right ? buy a spare and keep it in the glove box. the ones i had were tested as good aswell. not sure what it is that goes wrong with them but they run fine then start to screw up. you dont even have to bolt it down. just hook it up and and zip tip it somewhere secure and see if it fixes the problem. Ive been through this nightmare before. I hate to tell someone to throw parts at it but coils were like 15$ last i bought one and the module wasent much either. i would go ahead and replace both simply due to the mileage. You might want to check your plugs as well to make sure they arent gunked up.

that's exactly what it looks like.. $27 bux from part store
and the ignition module is about 50 bux.

Have you tried pulling the hose of the EGR and plugging it with a bolt? Is the Service Engine Soon light on or is it throwing any codes?
