okay so me and my friend decided to take a trip out on the trail yesterday. it ended up that he got all of his stuff jacked by some haters in a ford but thats beside the point.

the point is, when i was going up an incline, and my temp gauge was at half, my truck totally lost a lot of its power and barely made it up the incline. i could also hear a ticking sound coming from underneath the hood.

this also happened the other day when i was going about 30 up a hill, i lost almost all of my power and the truck almost died on me and there was a sound coming from under the hood that sounded like the fan was hitting something.

on the trail yesterday as well i was ascending a climb that wasnt too steep probay like 25 degrees or something and my engine was at a really low rpm. i was going probably 20mph and the engine would not kick down. the engine almost died a couple times going up other inclines and actually did die once. i wasnt going up an incline i was turning around on the trail, i put it in reverse and it just quit on me. i took a look under the hood and everything looked ok.

it seems to only be doing it under a load like when im moving. it didnt do it when i revved the engine.

could this be a belt slipping or somethinmg? maybe a fuel filter?

recent parts have been
fuel pump
starter
o2 sensor
new plugs

i did knock that punch out of the tbi and adjust the idle so i could pass smog. i never changed it back. it seems to run pretty solid other than going up inclines, once in a while it has a little bit of hesitation though.

This sort of this happened to me anytime I was really bogging down the engine. Once I would rev it up, it would go away.

My bro-in-law, a smart guy with this stuff, said to change plugs, wires, etc.

No more problems.

There is a procedure for setting the base idle, you can't just turn the screw, that is probably the problem.

There was probably something wrong in the first place, which is why the idle needed messed with. :)
