We have a 87 K5 or (V10), A few guys here helped me with a adaptor prolem and I got it fixed... While i was under there tonight I was looking for the fill and drain for the transfer case. I thought it was like our 96 but it did not look like it. Our truck is 87 350, 700R4.

So what transfer case do i have and what fluid goes in it. and what do the fill and drain plugs look like bucause i didnt see them... However while i was there i was more interested in getting the bolts fixed.

thank you stano

You should have a NP208, it takes ATF and there should be a two draln plugs on the back side (towards rear of K5). One high and one low. One is for filling (high) and one is for draining (low). Hope this helps.

thank you I did notice two hex shaped about 1 across..... but one was at the bottoom which makes sence and the other was not at half high b ut way at the top on the back side????

As discussed the drain and fill plugs are large hex head plugs. The fill is maybe halfway, or less, up the back of the case.

30mm on those hex's. I carry a wrench in The Blazer just for checking this.

30mm wrench = no slipping off or mangling of narrow hex head.

Less than $20 at Sears.

Just waiting for you to round the points on that hex...

...or clock yourself with the wrench.

Glue the owwie up?

Actually if you have a Michigan Tool or Harbor Freight around you might be able to find one for under $10. I just go to Sears because I know they will have it more than likely.

Hell, I have an extra...make ya a deal...

Nope, i shall purposely remove every bolt I can with channel locks and pipe wrenches just to make you upset AJ :D:haha:And ill take pics lol.
Maybe even a Youtube video named "engine removal with pipe wrench"....

I sorry just messinwitcha. Back to your normally scheduled fluid checking questions :D

Somehow I'll end up buying your Blazer.

It's a rule that every prior owner of my vehicles must at some point mangle a connector or piece of hardware with vice grips or a monkey wrench.

MUST.

Nah I dont own vice grips, just a pipe wrench. Its my fix all tool. Should I buy more tools you think?

:D:whistle:

Ok gotta go to work aj, we can argue more later :D

Wow Im glad i ask for help with this one....So if i got this right i need a, 30mm Sears wrench, or 30mm Harbor Freight wrench, or 30mm Mich Tool wrench, or Pipe wrench
(only if it is free from work), Channel Locks, or Pipe wrench, or You tube vidio, or vice grips, or monkey wrench, or a fix it all tool.. to take out the two plugs on the transfer case..

I choose 30mm wrench from harbor freight first......if they sell just one....

Thank you guys for your help...stano

Yea sorry for the big tangent there lol. I forget the amount of ATF needed. I think it's 4 or 5 qts

thanks guys.... getting the flulid and wrench today
