I have a 87 suburban with a 400 sb and a holley carb between 45 and 50 mph it is cutting out. after i play with the gas a lil and get above the 50 mph mark it goes away. anyone have any idea what could be causeing it?

alright no replys. i guess im gonna throw some sea foam at it and see what happens

didnt give it much time for a reply haha. Someone that has an idea will drop in at somepoint. If anyone else is like me on here, they spend their weekends working on their rig. So give it a day or two.

Dont have it the guy I bought it from hacked up the harness.. at that speed just started a ciuple days ago

@wage92 I will give em time I just had a few cans of sea foam laying around and figured I was use it up

Thats about the rpm where the EGR valve would open,if its still there and connected..check that to see if its sticking or opening too early..

Also check the vacuum advance if it has one,it could be failing,or perhaps the centrifical weights in the distributor have a lot of wear on the pins they ride on and is making the advance erratic..could also be the pick up coil wires are broken inside and making partial contact..

But since its a Holley,it could just be a fluke in the carb..I hated almost every one I had, with few exceptions..could never keep them working right one day to the next..power valves blew if it spit back in the morning when I opened the choke too soon, floats liked to drop or go out of adjustment for no good reason,etc..I put the Q-jet back on or got an AFB Carter or Edelbrock, they ran sweet on the street..not so great off road without mods though..

Ok thanks guys and thank you diesel4me I kike Edelbrock better but im saving for an ls to throw in it
