so my k5 sat in the driveway for a few years and i finally got around to get it up and running. got it running but the fuel pump went out shortly after before i even got it out of the drive way. before i determined it was the fuel pump i had pulled off the dist cap and underneath was all rusted and corroded so i replaced the cap and rotor. after getting a fuel pressure gauge i determined the fuel pump was bad so i replaced it.
now i am having some ignition timing issue. with the est connector unplugged it i set the timing to 0 degrees and it will idle fine but any amount of throttle and it will miss or backfire. shut it off and plug the connect back it and it will have trouble turning over and then start up and run real rough for a couple seconds and then shut off. if i try to start it back up it will try to turn over and sound like it is about to start up but then just lock up or back fire and not start up. if i unplug the est connector again and try to start it up it will have some difficulty starting back up at first but after a few tries it will start up.
cap and rotor are brand new, coil is good and has been tested as well and trying a couple different spares, icm is new, plugs are new, and wires are in great shape. distributor is an msd. i have also tried a spare ecm and still same issue.
im have been totally stumped on this problem for some time now and my buddies have no clue either. engine has maybe 110k on it. any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
