I have the same thing, but 4x4. My tranny is a Getrag.
It was toast when I bought the truck (still drivable, but 4th is gone, and everything else grinds in coasting). I pulled the drivetrain from a junker last week, and I'll be putting the junkyard tranny in my truck tomorrow if the weather's decent.
It looks like a huge project for me... Probably a lot easier on a 2wd...
Hopefully the junkyard tranny is in decent shape... No way to check it out but install it and drive around on it...
BTW, look for MG5 or MY5 (I forget which one, and I'm not near my list) in your RPO codes, that will tell you if it's a getrag.
Also, in pricing these things out, I've found the cheapest rebuilt to be $1100 without shipping ($1500 from AC Delco), and on average $400-$1000 from a junkyard.
If I could do it again, I wouldn't.
