88 Blazer Axles?

Just currious if anyone knows off hand which axles I have in truck? has factory 10 bolt with 342s 28 or 30 spline? Its an 88 k5. thanks

It should be 28 spline, 89 was the first year for 30.

Thanks for the info, now im trying to figure out what i broke in the rear. About two months ago i heard a noise form the rear like a pop and then fluid was dripping out the bqack cover. well i took the cover off and there was a tooth laying in the bottom of the rear end. It must of broke off and flung into the back cover and put a hole in it. i apoxyed the cover, filled it back up with fluid and its been fine ever since. Until recently had it four low jumpin on it preety hard and pow ther rear took a ****. my buddy seems to think its the spider gear and the ring and pinion. any advice would be appreciated as i am in the process of tearing it apart and dont have a ton of cash. thanks again guys!

what did the tooth look like?

Side/pinion gear teeth are "straight cut", while the ring and pinion teeth are both curved.

It's likely going to be easier, cheaper, and quicker to find another axle, unless it's a side or pinion gear that broke and that's all that's wrong, and you have another donor parts axle in excellent shape laying around.

Typically you get into them and if open, the thrust washers for the pinion gears are shot, which eats into the carrier and the pinion shaft.

! Have a set of front and rear 10 bolts with 3.42 that will be comming out of my blazer. They are still in the blazer, but will be comming out soon, if your interested. The rear is a limited slip, but i have a mini spool and open carrier that will be included with axles.

All 10 bolts before 89 and some 89 blazers have 28 spline axles. After that they went to a 30 spline axle.

Map-quest says 330 miles, 5 hours from Detroit, MI to Lafayette, IN.

I would be selling the entire axle. Currently the ebrake cables are bad, but i have a brand new set (still in the box) of ebrake cables that i would sell, or you can use your current cables. I would like to sell the matching set of front and rear axles, but i will sell them separately.

I dont think the size of the axles matter if im swapping out the entire rear end? right? how much would you want for the rear? and is it brake to brake? thanks again. also when will it be available?

It is complete from brake to brake, except for the e-brake cables. I want to get $100 for the axle and $25 for the brand new e-brake cables, if you want them. I could have it out of the truck by Sunday afternoon if you want to come and get it. I would need to know by Friday afternoon, to get it out by Sunday.

Also, it does not matter what spine the axles are as long as you replace the entire axle.
