'88 Dash Pad Install Question

I'm getting ready to install a new Dash Pad in my '88. I have removed the old pad and trimed the new one to fit better. I'm digging out the clip holes and will install the clips next. Here my question:

I have dry fit the dash and I'm a little confused on whether the back of the new pad goes under the windshield molding or do I just use the clips to hold it in place and not worry about that.

Hopefully this makes sense.

Thanks,
Joe

The clips hold it down at the firewall. They just slide into holes basically.

Double check to be sure your clips are installed properly too. If you have them in the wrong holes, it just won't go in all the way.....trust me, I know.

Before you paint it, be sure it's extra clean!! That will really help your overall results.
