Just out of curiousity, is the rear main seal on an 88 K5 with a 350/SM465 combo a one or two piece seal?

GM went to a one piece in 86
It should be a one-piece, but always wise to check. With these old trucks you never know what a previous owner might have swapped in.
I had an 86 van engine,a 305 I put in my 79 C10,it had the one peice rear main seal,but still had the typical 4 bolt valve covers and V-belts,or at least one V belt and a serpentine if I remember right (altenator was serpentine and P/S was v belt I think)..
I guess 86 was a "trasition" year,kind of an orphan..the 87 up engines had the newer valve covers with the center bolts..and sepentine belts..

And 86 was not machined for roller cams As well, it my memory servese right
I never had the intake off it,so I dont know,but I think your correct,I read somewhere that 1987 was the first roller camshaft year..the 86 engine was definately a half breed..a one year wonder!..
