I had drill this weekend so I didnt get to work on the blazer. For this week I'm undecided whether to work on the body to get it ready for paint next weekend.......or, start on the 14BFF teardown/rebuild?

What do you guys think?

its been "ready for paint" for how many years? whats another week while it gets 1 tons?

do you know of anyone else that had that problem with the hummer tires? how wide are your wheels? i'm gonna get a set for my suburban and don't want to deal with that.

Your right about the paint, its just been in the back of my mind for 6 years that it needs to be painted! And rebuilding the 14B shouldnt take as long as the 60 did (I spent 3 or 4 weeks on that one) Im sure I can teardown and rebuild the 14B in a couple weeks.

Im not sure about anyone elses problems with the hummer tires. I really only had a problem with the one. I mounted the other 3 no problem but that 4th one I couldnt mount and ended up taking it to the pros then 2 weeks later it literally fell off the bead while sitting in the yard, long story short, I got a bad tire.

My wheels are 10" wide, the tires are only 12.50's so I imagine an 8" wheel would be ideal. And of course they are 16.5's so losing a bead will always be an issue without beadlocks.

I guess I can update my build since im being lazy tonight and not working on it...

I shaved the lip off the 14B, It really looked easier than it was (like all things do). Or maybe because it was midnight and I couldnt see very good. I did end up getting into the threads on one hole but im not too worried about that...cross that bridge when I get there:whistle:

This was the day after I shaved the lip....I spent all night out there....

Do you have the part number on the longer wheel studs you installed in the hubs of your 14bolt ?.

I am getting ready to put disks on my 14bolt, just checking what wheel studs you used.

If you looking for a dully wheel stud, the one you need is a Doman #610-194. I got mine last week from autozone. They were $1.99 each. Its total length is 4". The thread length is
2". Hope this helps. I used these when I did my Disc swap. also, The weight savings is 45lbs. per side.

x2 on rear drw studs = long threads.

i have them and with the rims i have on for roll around use the threads are past the rim face. and these rims take shank nuts. the front dana 60 srw studs come close to the face but not flush to give you a comp of the length . and if you ever seen these style rims you know thick aluminum in the face is alotfor the stud to stick past.

only note i can make is if steel wheels might need duplex long nuts or stock open face lug nuts as to the extra length.

That is the part number I used also. Dorman 610-194. Munepit- you got those for 2 bucks a pop?!?! I spent double that for mine last week....damn.

And an update to my build, winch is installed and working!! And I now have 3 out of 4 tires mounted...one more to go. I had to rob some parts off of my spare so I guess I will need to find an o ring and 4 mag beadlock bolts. Might even find a tire to go on the wheel while I'm at it!

Axles complete!

Here is the 14B installed.

Looks good, nice and tough. I think if you find a C&C 14 bolt and put your SRW hubs on it it will widen your rear axle without spacers.

School me on this C&C 14 bolt you are talking about! I don't mind running spacers for now (because of all the work I put into this 14B) but I'm open to any ideas for future upgrades!

A Cab & Chassis truck 14 bolt will be a dually unit that is wider. If you put that dually axle with your single rear wheel hubs, it's about as wide as your front dually axle. I don't know exact dimensions, but have seen it done on here and it looks good with the hummer wheels.

I did not know about that axle. Thanks! I will be on the lookout for those now.

I finally figured out my rear disc problem. Everything is now functional. Took it for a test drive yesterday. Going from 3.42 to 4.10 gears....WOW!!!! What a difference! And the brakes are super strong with the 4 wheel disc! Cant wait until Saturday to go wheeling!!
