I just bought an 88 k5 and it turns out it has no rear lights, nothing at at all. no turn signals, no back up, no tail, not even license plate lights working. any suggestions? is there a common ground back there somewhere? the back window does have power by the way.
any help appreciated,
thanks

under the tailgate there is a plug, where the harness from the frame connects to the body, make sure it's plugged in.

Don't forget to check the fuses either. Backup and turn signals are each on their own circuit and the rest of the lighting is split between them.

follow the wireset (they are all connected together - as if one wire with a rainbow of colors) i think it's green, yellow, brown and (can't remember the last color... black??). there is a plug along the way.

The last time the lights went screwy on mine, it was due to the trailer harness connector shorting out.

been there too, tho it would be sort of unlikely for his case because none of them are working ever - that would be alot of wires to all be shorted out.

This may sound stupid but check the bulbs if you just bought it. I just bought a used car for my wife that had zero tail lights. Come to find out someone had stolen all the bulbs and replaced them with bad ones... At least thats the only answer we could come up with. All the bulbs were bad and zero electrcal problems.

my bet would be the harness t-dawg1 is still fighting with his 87 for the same reason he had a <shop fix it> lol now well prob have to redo it the right way

thanks for the advice. but after several hours of rewiring i basically replaced the whole rear harness after the drivers door back. i kept on finding corrosion after corrosion and just decided to replace the whole thing
