I have an '88 K5 with an 8" lift and 39.5" TSL's. It rides good and turns without rubbing until i go up a driveway or over a curb or down in a rut. I can't put a body lift on it because I have to park it under my carport and I already had to trim an inch off the entrance so it would fit. I have my crossover stuff coming in sometime next week and I want to be able to get articulate after I put it on without rubbing. So I have a body work guy that is going to trim some off of the fenders, but I wanted to get an idea of how much to trim off. And how important is the fender well? Can I take it out? It only rubs on the corners so should I flare it at the ends? Will trimming the fender be enough? I read something about beating back the firewall, will i need to do that too? Should I trim the rear fenders too so it matches? What should I use to cover the rough edge of the cut? Or should I sand it? Any help would be appreciated.

Oh boy...

Cutting your truck is like smoking crack, if you're not careful you'll get hooked and can't stop...:haha:

Do a search, there's a bunch of threads about it on here...

As far as me, you don't want me to give you any advice about cutting up a rig...:D

I was more afraid of messing up the cut and having to keep compensating until there is no fender left, haha. I have been searching for tips on this subject, but I couldn't find anything specific enough.

That looks pretty good, I was thinking of going all the way around though, so it was less of an angle at the corners

grab a peice of string and a sharpie and draw a half circle from one end to the other and cut lol!

I like pre 73 trucks just for that reason, nice round fender openings.

OK, I trimmed the fenders like NorCal_Chris, looks pretty good. Now I have dove into hi-steer system for the blazer and I am going to start a new thread about that.

here is my trimming. the front of the fronts is cut just below the inner, and the rear of the inner is cut off about 8" up.
