My truck will idle fine when in park but when i shift it into any gear it will stalls out if i dont give it a little gas to keep it going? what is the problem?

Thanx phil

My first thougt would be the park/neutral switch, got any autozones around? I'd recommend getting it on a scanner.

This of course assumes you thoroughly inspected any vacuum lines, you know the plugs, wires, cap and rotor are in good shape, and the TBI gasket isn't leaking.

mine used to do that. It was giving me codes for MAP sensore being bad, but I replaced it, still did it, and still got same codes.
Turned out to be the throttle position sensor

Having same issue with mine.Sitting in park engine runs good and sounds ok.When I put it in drive and just give it a little gas it bogs down.If I get into the throttle a little in runs fine.I've been trying the carb cleaner around the vaccum lines, but no luck yet.Checked and I have no codes.Might need to get my mechanic friend who knows a lot about Chevys to take a look at it.

It could be a bad TCC solenoid. Disconnect the square connector on the driverside of the trans and then see if it still dies when you put it in gear. If it works fine then the TCC solenoid (Torque Convertor Clutch solenoid) is bad. In order to change it you have to drop the trans pan and then you can swap it out and replace the filter while you're in there.

Well it wasnt the TCC in my case.Although a did have a broken wire going to it.Not sure what it was for.I spliced it back together, but didnt notice any difference.I gues its back to check the vacuum hoses.

Disconnected the line from the EGR and it went away.It still has a some hesitation at higher RPM though.Guess I'll replace the EGR and see how it goes.

That might actually mean that the solenoid is leaking vacuum to the valve. At idle the egr valve should be closed, so if you can feel vacuum on the line from solenoid to valve at idle, the solenoid is either bad or it's being incorrectly commanded.
