finally moving up from a very old 13' camper(canned ham) looking into a 18 to 22....newer one's are lighter .....the sticker is gone from my door, what weight range will be best...........thanks 4 any and all help...........

kinda depends on how much weight your pushing, meaning if you have stock gears, tires etc. now if you are rollin on 40"s with 10 bolts i wouldnt tow nothing. but it should say on wiki what your capabilities are for a stock k5-nick

I have a 1971, 21 foot Timberline travel trailer that I tow with my K5. My K5 has the 6 lug 10bolts front and rear and I've got 35's. Even though my trailer is a tandem axle I do still use the sway bar hitch set-up and I have a brake controller in the rig set for the trailer.

5K is the max you can tow. But IMO That is too heavy for a long tow.
3.5 to 4 k will be ok with trailer brakes and a good equalizer hitch. I towed a 21 foot Prowler quite a bit with my 89 K5 with factory towing package. It weighed around 3800 loaded. It did ok and got the job done.
If you have auto trans and dont have a trans fluid cooler.Get a good one! It is a must have if towing with a 700R4.

This is directly from a Dealers Fact book for a 1989 Blazer (1988 should be the same).

Weight Distributing Hitch Platform Option VR4 (up to 6000 lbs.)

When trailer-loaded weights exceed 2000 lbs., or the tongue weight exceeds 200 lbs., a frame-mounted load-distributing hitch should be used. The platform is bolted to the frame through prepunched holes. Hitch ball, mounting head, equalizing and anti-sway assemblies are also required and are available from outside sources. On V Blazer/Jimmy, the maximum trailer weight/tongue load is 6000/750 lbs. and availability of the hitch platform is RPO VR4.

LOL. I towed around 6K in my k5 one time. A 53 F100 i bought in Reno. Hauled it 300 miles home on a 3 axle flatbed trailer. Not Fun! Did ok flat pulling down the interstate but climbing from 4500 feet to around 8K feet was a slow and hot climb. Not recomended. Next time i'll take a Dmax:D
