Okay here goes, my '88 K5 won't start, drove my son to day care, on the way home I stopped at the motorcycle shop ( cause I'm just not wasting enough money on my k5! ) upon exiting the shop, I hop in the truck. Turn the key and nothing! Not even the buzzing sound when the door is open and the key is in the ignition. But the guy's at the shop test the battery and it's holding at 12v. Have it towed home put the key in buzzing sound goes and I smile turn the key and it all goes dead! Ideas, suggestions, bullet for me to nibble on?

How are your battery cables and their connections?

Did/do the dome lights work properly?

IDK no bulb in dome, battery post are super clean
I've had the truck 1 year as of last august, rebuilt the engine, tranny and so on. But the starter and other peripheral things were not replaced.

Well without domelights, do your headlights work by themselves? Those aren't keyed ignition, will rule out the ignition switch if they don't.

Why no bulb? Just wondering aloud if it was a previous owners attempt at a solution to a bad parasitic draw...

Okay, so I go to check headlights and no lights. So I jiggle (technical term) the wires and boom Houston we have lights! So I guess it's a short somewhere in the positive terminal. So I'll replace both terminals. I hope that's all it is :doah:
