A friend has a 98 half ton 4x4 with a blown rear.. he found a 14bsf 6 lug out of a c2500. I know it's narrower than what he has, but what about shock mounts? I know on the 73-87s the 2wd mounts are different..

I put a 6 lug semi float 14 under my '88 blazer. It came from a '97 Z71. I think shock mounts and perches were different. What year is the new axle, and why is there a 6 lug axle under a 2500? all the 3/4 tons I've owned or seen had 8 lug...

It would be a light duty 2500. They were like a heavy half ton but not quite a real 3/4 ton. Hence the 6 lugs.

I put a 6 lug 14sf under my 96 Z71 without any modifications. Everything bolted right up. If I remember correctly I even used the yoke off my 10B.

I'm going to be putting a 14bsf in my parents tahoe this weekend, as such I've done quite a bit of research.

It seems that the 2wd axle will bolt in place with the only difference being the width of the axle. You can use the yoke off of your 10 bolt if you like or go with a conversion u-joint.
