88 V3500 with 454 Question

I have a friend that is selling an edelbrock torquer rectangle port intake for a 454. This is my first big block and was wondering if this is a good intake for more torque? What is the difference between square and oval ports? This truck is used for towing.

your heads are ported either square, oval, or peanut. I can almost garroontee you do not have rectangular ports.

Most likely peanut ports. A torquer manifold is not what you want anyway, IIRC the Torquer is still a higher RPM intake and would not be ideal for towing. It's a bad name for that intake I think.
