Well adjusted the tv cable replaced governor but still no 3 or 4 shift so time for a rebuild got an estimate for a rebuild and install at 1250 sound about right for these ? 6 month warranty

Check with your chevy dealer. Got mine several years ago for about that with a 36 month/100,000 mile warranty. Rebuilt of course but has been good for about 40,000 miles.

Paid $850 for mine as a bench rebuild with 1 yr warranty. If you can do the R&R yourself, that'd save ya several hundred I'd bet.

Paid $900 last summer for a local reputable shop to rebuild mine. That was a bench build along with a cash "discount".

It's obviously a location thing....

I need mine rebuilt again due to my own negligence on wiring... can't find a shop around these parts to do a basic clutch and band type of rebuilt, no hard parts, gears or shells or whatever, nothing major, for less than about $1100.. Bench rebuilt too..

This sucks.

Dam that's crazy I bought this thing for 1800 shipped for a g and now after everything I've had done I'm for dam near 7 gs already I could have had a nice clean k5 ... Hand to face ... Think I'm gonna call her money pit

Yeah, I'm annoyed with mine lately as well. Brand new rebuilt engine and having lifter issues with less than 600k miles, burnt out transmission, just those two repairs alone are not worth the price of this truck if I were to try to sell it...

It's UGLY right at the moment from too many years of trail abuse. :doah:

Of course I also look at it that the past several years of driving around in something much cushier, nicer and newer has probably spoiled me a bit.

It's just something I need to tinker with a little bit at a time through the nicer months I guess, get it back into shape again I suppose.

Chadwell Automotive in Meridan, KS will do a bench rebuild for $500-$550 if you bring the trans. I am currently running on of their rebuilt unit's. Very strong, and that was about 5 yrs ago:waytogo:
