89 full convertible is now 3/4 ton & Painted

Any pics of how or what you used to cover the bed rail holes?

Yes we used the top and I cut pieces of it while Randy welded the pieces to make the patch. Then it was grind grind grind bondo bondo grind. :doah:

I can't remember off the top of my head but doesn't part of the seat belt mount on the body somewhere close to where you had to cut the top off? If it does sit just below which now i think it does but the bracket bolts up top what did you do about that?

No seat belts yet. :p:

I think this rollbar is supposed to mount on the floor at the tailgate.... My buddy Gene has a 78 Cheyenne Blazer with the same rollbar. I read the whole thread and saw a question about mounting behind drivers seat?

Hey Scott, the 73,4,5 hardtops have the upper retractor mounts in them.

I didn't find the swap too hard, I just measured the original window frame opening (23.5" or so) and made double sure the full vert frame ended up the same. I used some 3/4" x .063" tubing as pins inside the windsheild frame. This helped align the angle of the frame correctly, added a bit of strength and provided some backing for welding.

IMO removing and reinstalling the glass was the hardest part. I cracked my windshield in two places, once getting it out and once putting it back in. :doah:

Fortunately both cracks are nowhere near my sight lines...in fact they're both very hard to notice unless you know they're there.

Nope, that one is a factory 73-75 *front* bar -- the tabs that mount just below where the B pillar should be is the dead giveaway.

The factory REAR rollbar -- which, btw, fits 73-91 -- looks like the following. The front bars do NOT easily flip around and fit in the back (they're too tall to fit under the hardtop, f'rinstance.)

Uhh, sure. One goes in front and one goes in back -- some 74-75's came with both, even.

(The front bar was introduced as an option for '74, just for trivia's sake :) )

That first picture looks badass. I like the black rims against the all-white body. Nice contrast. Full convertibles rule.

Thanks for all the compliments, no dana 60 for awhile. This k5 will not be seeing rocks.

Damn, very nice rig. I'm looking forward to eventually do that to my 85, when the $ and time is available. What lift/tire combo are you running?

8in all spring lift and these. I really like these tires. They are good on the street haven't used them offroad yet.
