Ok, I have another issue. The rear tail pan was wasted on this blazer. The rear body mounts also wasted. Of course I know the rubber and the bolt go here but what is this bracket wrapped around the mount for? I have purchased all new mounts but have to get this figured out. There are two bolts (can only see one in pic.) that are in this bracket where do they go? This dang thing is a puzzle! We are very grateful for the help and advice. Body mount.jpg

I wouldn’t worry about it. When doing my mounts, same thing came out due not having a clue what purpose it served.

Hey Jimmy 85, I agree I cant find any benefit to this bracket. Yours does look a lot better but still doesn't show how it would mount,,,,, Damn puzzle! Thanks, really appreciate the help.

Any chance on measuring between inner bed panels before wheel wells?

Thanks again,
Randy

For stock rear body mounts. That bracket simply held the rubber mount in place and provided the captive nuts for the rear bumper brackets.

If you purchase urethane mounts. You toss that bracket (it usually is rusted or destroyed during removal). They provide new nuts for the bumper bracket and use washers on the rear mount like the other mounts.

Thanks Bigb55, I already purchased unfortunately the same (factory) body mounts, do you think I still need that bracket? Thanks again!

I think the bracket provided the same effect as thick washers. Need something for the top of the mount to press on. I think the OEM mounts only have metal on the bottom?

There was someone here who fabbed up new brackets by bending sheet metal.

Probably could get away with cutting some similar gauge sheet metal to the size of the mount to use as the top washer.

But that mount served no structural need. It was designed that way for assembly.

I agree, I cant find any structural benefit. I will make a couple out of 1/8 inch plate I have, should be good.
Thank you again! Beautiful Blazer by the way!
