My K5 was owned by an amateur radio enthusiast at some point. As in put-up-the-antenna-and-call-Sweden amateur radio. Wires running all over the place that I'm slowly removing.

Anyways, while working on my heater core today (or attempting to work on it:rolleyes:) I discovered this blue wire under the carpet on the passenger side floor board. Comes down the side of the body under the dash, is taped to the floor with that adhesive foam tape stuff, and then heads back along the edge of the floor next to the door.

Just wondering if I should put this one on my list or if it's factory. Rear speaker wire?

As far as I know theres never been factory rear speakers, just the 2 or 3 in the dash.

Only stock wires under the mat/carpet should be orange and white for the dome light and the 4wd backlight for your shifter.

It's connected to something on each end...not sure what.

Yup, that's your passenger rear speaker.

pickups had cab corner 4x10s too. 75 gentlemen jims and 80 models had 4x10 door speakers too! Factory! Kinda neat little options. Same coloring as the speakers on my second gen camaros, so i bet its your rear speaker.

Okay, thanks guys.

It's getting left where it is then.

I was a bit suspicious that it wasn't one of the PO's wiring jobs in that it seemed to actually have been meant to be there. All of the PO's wiring is a bit...hodgepodge...nothing scary but definitely not stock.

There's a loom of wire running from the firewall, down the d-side frame rail, all the way to under the tailgate and then just ends there. I think when the radio owner sold it he just took off everything he wanted and disconnected/cut the wires and called it good. Wires and wire clamps everywhere.

Do have a nice heavy gauge wire running from the d-side battery into the interior though. Sealed up at the firewall and everything. Figured I'd keep that just in case I find a future use for it.

That is the tow package wiring for an electric brake controller. GM installed the wiring but left it up to the owner to purchase and install a controller. The wiring you see should be red and blue and about 10 gauge.

The blue and white wire on your floor board is indeed for rear speakers.

Hrm, I'll have to look again then. This thing does have a brake controller (which seems to work as the light comes on when I hit the brakes), a round 4 pin plug in the bumper, and a round 7 pin plug hanging next to the hitch. I know somebody used it to tow a sports car race car around at some point.

There's a mess of wiring (most of which seems to be clipped) up near the master cylinder where this loom starts. Two little relays as well, but I'm not sure what they're hooked to.
