Hi All,
I found threads that talked about installing this harness from LMC but they don’t quiet cover my problem and the thread is 16 years old. Here’s my issue. I have the 4 headlight harness from LMC. The instructions are poor but on the old threads I understand that the 3 prong male plugs into one of the factory headlight plugs. My factory harness looks stock but the headlight plugs are not the 3 blade style, they are the 2 small blade style on halogen lights. The new harness plug has 3 wires and the original headlight plug only has 2 wires so I’m not sure if I can just cut and splice. Is anyone familiar with a work around?

I believe 89 had 2 optional headlight / grill configurations, are you certain you have the correct kit?

You can take the spade connectors out of your original head lamp plugs and plug into the new harness. You just have to Identify the wires.
Personally I would cut splice with solder and heat shrink this connection.

The LMC kit is set up to use the LMC upgrade headlight housings and bulbs. They do not work with stock headlights.

You can buy new correct plugs at most parts stores. Or Amazon.

It’s LMC’s way to hook you in for new lights at $30 per.

I bought the LMC headlights too. The new headlights will plug in correctly to the new harness. The issue I’m having is the 3 prong male on the new harness is different from the factory headlight plug it’s supposed to plug into. The new harness male plug has large spades and the factory headlight plug has the really small spades. The factory harness has two wires and the new harness has three wires for this connection. I would cut and splice them but I’m not sure about the extra wire on the new harness. The new harness has a green, brown and black wire on the 3 prong male plug. The factory has a green and a black wire on the small female plug that plugged into the lights.

A quick check on the LMC site shows two different versions of this wiring harness one for stock headlights and one for the aftermarket. Is it possible you have the kit with the stock style connectors?
Of course they claim no cutting or splicing is needed...Screenshot_20220308-123518-421.png

I think I get where the problem is. The LMC harness has a plug for the input that should be a male end connector that goes into the factory harness just like the light bulb.

They must have a male H4 connector on it had three spades.

I remember the instructions left a lot to be desired. But the way it’s supposed to work is you unplug the factory harness from the bulbs. On single headlight setups (one per side) they had you plug the relay harness into the plug that went to the driver side lamp. It’s just the “on” input from the factory headlight switch. On the dual (2 per side) you may have two plugs to go to the factory harness because one is low beam and the other is high beam. They had to do that since the factory wiring does not leave the low beams on with the high beams.

So question I have is there one or two male plugs in the LMC harness? Got a pic?

I think we are on the same page. The harness has provisions for 4 headlights but has 1 male input plug for the factory harness

I wish I could post a couple pictures but that seems harder to do on a forum and my phone is not cooperating

Upon some Google searching, the harness has t4 connections and the stock headlights and plug is a 2 wire 4703 style bulb plug

Probably just need to get a female h4 connector like one of these and wire it in.

I can do that. What about the extra wire on the new harness? Do you know what the function is sense the factory plug is only a 2 wire? Not sure what to do with that one. Thanks for the link

Simply put, it’s not needed. One wire will be the “on” signal for the low beam, the other for the high beam. The third wire would normally be a ground which isn’t needed.

You just need to figure out of the two wires on the relay harness which one is high and low so you can connect the wire to the correct spot from your factory harness.

Perfect explanation. I will jump on it and report back how it went. Thank you very much!

It sounds like you have the mini-quad headlights. They have the low beams only in the 2 outer bulbs and the inner ones are high beam only. They also have smaller pins in the factory plugs.

I don't know what the LMC headlights are set up for, so I don't know how it will work for their upgrade harness. Sounds like @ZooMad75 is close.

there should be 2, 2 female spade plugs on the original harness, per side. 1 is low beam the other high beam. The power sie of these 2 plugs are what you want to splice into or make fit the lmc harness 3 wire plug. black is the ground.
